Our classes are suitable for complete beginners, experienced cooks, families, children, private groups, corporate teams and visitors to Kuala Lumpur. No previous cooking experience is required.
The minimum age to attend is 7 years old. Guests aged 7-15 are considered children and require a ticket of admission. If you need to bring a child because you’re unable to leave them on their own, please let us know when booking so we can advise on the arrangements.
What happens during a typical cooking class and how long does it take?
LaZat is a market-to-table cooking experience. You’ll begin with a guided visit to the local market, discover the ingredients used in Malaysian cooking, then head to the kitchen to prepare and cook a selection of dishes with our instructors.
You’ll finish by sitting down to enjoy the meal you’ve made. A typical class takes around five hours from start to finish
Can I customise my class or request dietary requirements?
Yes. Where possible, we can customise the menu and cooking experience to suit your group. Vegetarian and vegan options can be arranged, along with other dietary requirements and food allergies.
Please share your requirements when booking so we can advise what is possible for your selected programme.
What language are the cooking classes conducted in?
Our cooking classes are conducted in English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil.
If you have a preferred language, let us know when making your booking and we’ll do our best to arrange an instructor who speaks it.
When is the booking cut-off and where can I check the availability?
For Monday classes, bookings close by Saturday at 3PM. For Tuesday to Saturday classes, bookings close at 6PM on the day before.
If you miss the booking cut-off, we’ll reschedule your class to the next available date.
For regular classes, the website booking page shows the latest available dates and allows you to book directly. For private, corporate or customised experiences, contact us to check availability and make arrangements.
What type of programmes does LaZat offer?
We offer regular Malaysian cooking classes, private cooking classes and customised cooking experiences for individuals and groups. We also run corporate cooking and team-building programmes, which can be tailored to your group size, objectives and preferred experience.
Menus vary across programmes and feature dishes from Malaysia’s rich and diverse culinary traditions.
Does every cooking class include a market tour?
The market tour is an integral part of the LaZat experience and is included at the start of our programmes, unless a customised programme has been specifically arranged without it.
Market visits are not available on Mondays and certain public holidays, when the market is closed. You’ll explore local produce, herbs, spices and other ingredients before putting what you’ve discovered into practice in the kitchen.
Are LaZat’s corporate cooking programmes HRD Corp Claimable?
Yes. LaZat Cooking is a registered HRD Corp Training Provider, and our corporate cooking and team-building programmes are HRD Corp Claimable.
Get in touch with your group size, preferred date and requirements, and we can advise on suitable programmes and eligibility.
How many people are usually in a cooking class?
Our regular cooking classes accommodate up to 10 participants, but groups are often much smaller. It’s common to have a mix of solo guests, couples and small groups of around 3–5 people in the same class.
So whether you’re travelling on your own, coming as a couple or bringing a group of friends, you’ll have the chance to cook, learn and enjoy the experience together with other food lovers.
